RONNIE WOO
Real Name : Ronnie Wickers
Motto: Do one thing and do it incessantly.
Can you hear that train a comin'? CUBS WOO!!!! Yes it's Ronnie whose inimitable yell comes from a place below the lungs that no one among his thousands of admirers can reach back to. Subject of a cover story in the Chicago Reader, his disappearance a few years ago was tracked as closely as Helen Brachs' was. Recently, Ronnie issued a compact disc of his favorite shrieks which Downbeat Magazine compared favorably to early Yoko Ono. A true ladies man, Ronnie knows that an ear-splitting javelin of sound is the best way to a woman's heart. During the Wrigley Field lean years of the 1970's, more "Baseball Annies" gravitated to Ronnie than to any of the Cub players. Besides his brief appearance in Wrigley Field: Beyond the Ivy, watch for a new documentary on the life and times of Ronnie Woo, coming soon from Director Paul Hoffman.
